Milestones

A recent publication (pdf) of the milestones achieved by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station featured entomologists both old and new.  The gentleman in the background in the picture below is J. B. Smith, sitting in his laboratory with insects in cases behind him.  The 1906 notation refers to the establishment of state laws that provided scientific backing of local mosquito control by the experiment station and eventually led to the legislation that created county mosquito control commissions.
